Seattle in the USA
Located close to the Canadian border in the northern part of the country and in the state of Washington, Seattle is a busy city with all-round development and activities going on throughout. The city is famous for its closeness to the Canadian border and there are a number of Canadian offices in Seattle who find it convenient to catch on to the city’s direct access across the border.
Seattle has the famous Space Needle – a construction that was built around 1962 for the World Fair that was held at that time. Even today, the Space Needle has thousands of visitors going up its elevators for a clearer view of the city. The space needle was built with no specific intentions in mind to serve a specific purpose. It has remained Seattle’s important landmark even today almost after 50 years of it coming up. The height of the structure is about 184 meters above sea level and there are elevators to take the visitors right to the top where there is an observation deck and a gift shop. There is also a monorail service that runs for a few miles and is still in use in Seattle.
Seattle is known to be the Rainy city of America and the rains are as unpredictable here as the weather is. It is said that shopping malls in Seattle give out yellow umbrellas to shoppers to help them up to their cars in the event of a sharp drizzle breaking in. It rains throughout the year in Seattle so it is always safe to carry your own umbrella with you when moving out of the house.
Washington, the state in which Seattle is, has a relatively recent history. It was bequeathed by Great Britain under a treaty and therefore Washington came to be known as the 43rd state of USA after it was relinquished by the British. Most of the population of Washington live in the upcoming city of Seattle for their daily bread, while those preferring to stay on in the state, stay in the interiors of Washington.
There are various film festivals held in Seattle from time to time and the fun loving people of the city take in the festivals with as much eagerness as they do for any other sports activity. The film festivals screen some of the best blockbuster movies in the screens around the city and have a religious following of patronizers who wait for the film festivals to be announced.
Seattle is also reputed for the famous Seattle Center, which was used as the World Fair grounds in 1962. Nothing is allowed to come up in the center and is a wide-open space of acres of greenery and parks for the population of Seattle. The Seattle Center is one of the most important landmarks in the city and is known to all the residents of the city. Seattle is also famous for the north west folk life that can be found quite pronounced in the city and the countryside, quite naturally since the entire Washington state is made up of forests and rural life.
